Packing advice:

In the summer, wear light cotton clothes, such as t-shirts, shorts, and sandals. Although, if you are planning to visit the cities and towns, you may want to bring comfortable walking shoes. Pack sunglasses, a sun visor or hat, and sunscreen for the sunnier days. In winter, dress up warm as temperatures can drop fairly low.

Cultural differences:

The French culture is all about conversation. Be sociable, get to know people and show an understanding of French culture. When greeting someone, it's acceptable to shake hands firmly but briefly on introduction as well as when leaving. People who know each other – women with other women, or women with men and sometimes men and men – will kiss each other on both cheeks to say both hello and goodbye.

Tipping:

In France, tipping is more of a gesture rather than an obligation. You may see the letters ‘stc’ or words ‘service compris’ on your restaurant bill, which means that service is already included and therefore tipping won’t be necessary. Andante Travels will take care of gratuities to restaurant staff, local guides and drivers.
