Roger Harrison

Widely travelled in Africa and the Middle East, Roger triggered his lifelong interest in people and places in (then) Rhodesia as a Fairbridge Scholar and Malawi working with the British Leprosy Relief organisation.

His career spans such diverse occupations as exhibition organiser, consultant gemmologist, English language teacher in Jubail University and the Saudi Royal Navy.

For 18 years the Senior Reporter at the Arab News, where he engaged with Saudi people at all social levels, he travelled widely, flew over the Kingdom accompanying two senior princes in gliders, resulting in the definitive work, “Wings Over Arabia”.

Over three thousand articles and two million words, several hundred thousand photographs land two corporate books on the region later, Roger lives in Mallorca and is currently working on two books – one of Saudi vignettes of people and incidents, the other  a definitive volume on the racing camel for a client in the UAE.
