Angela Bentley

Angela has always had a passion for travel which was inspired by trips abroad with her father who was a bookseller specialising in Africa. As a teenager she travelled with him to Sierra Leone and Egypt visiting schools and universities and from that moment she was hooked.

Angela has previously run her own travel company, which included working as a tour manager. She has travelled widely, and spent time living in Hong Kong, India and New Zealand.

Angela has accompanied over 20 tours for Andante including St Petersburg, Italy, Malta, Sicily and Cyprus. She speaks French and some Italian and has a keen interest in Art History especially Ice Age Cave paintings. In fact her favourite tour is the Pyrenees Rock Art where you can see many examples of these extraordinarily beautiful paintings of nature.

One of the most memorable moments that Angela has experienced on tour is visiting the Smolny Cathedral in St Petersburg. The group entered the candle lit chapel during a morning mass and the effect of the Russian orthodox monks’ style of chanting created such a beautiful sound it almost sent some of the group into a meditative trance and many had tears streaming down their faces. It was without doubt one of the highlights of the tour!
